The first two seasons of the Netflix original "Daredevil" received favorable reviews. Now, fans are wondering as to when season 3 will be released. However, reports say that the upcoming season will be set aside for the meantime to give way to another show — "The Defenders."
Two of the show's executive producers, Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez, have left the show to work on "The Defenders" project. Even if it's possible for Netflix and Marvel to look for other showrunners for "Daredevil," it appears that they will be focusing on "The Defenders" for now.
Many are already in the know that "The Defenders" is set to begin filming this year, but there's no exact date yet as to when it will be released, especially since the stand-alone show for another Marvel character, "Iron Fist," is set to be released sometime next year; it would be odd to launch "The Defenders" without introducing "Iron Fist" first to viewers who are not familiar with Marvel characters.
"Daredevil" actor Charlie Cox stated during a Netflix event that he was unsure if there will ever be a season 3.
Cox also said, "What we do know is at the end of this year we're going to be making The Defenders and, of course, Daredevil is very much a part of that foursome."
"I have no idea what the storyline is going to be for that show. I'm very excited to see how those world's combine... and interested to see tonally how those shows become one," he added.
In season 2 of the show, Daredevil (Cox) finally revealed his identity to Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll); Elektra Natchios' (Elodie Yung) body was taken back by the evil organization The Hand; and Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) found closure by burning down his family's house.
"Daredevil" seasons 1 and 2 are still available to stream on Netflix.
